Ken and Rosie Jarvis Scholarship

The Johnston Community School Foundation is proud to offer the Ken and Rosie Jarvis Scholarship.  Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to Johnston High School (JHS) graduating seniors who will further their education at a two-year community college, a professional academy, or a vocational, technical, apprenticeship, or certification program.

CRITERIA

• The student must graduate from JHS.

• The student must enroll in a community college or other professional or technical program following graduation from JHS, with the start of enrollment no later than January 2025 to qualify for the scholarship.

• The student must complete an application form and follow the submission guidelines.

• The student must submit a letter of recommendation from a staff member at the Johnston Community School District or from a member of the Johnston area community. The letter should highlight the student's character. The recommendation letter should NOT be from a relative or family member. 

• JHS staff will be asked to complete a short character evaluation of scholarship applicants. (No action required from scholarship applicants.)

• Finalists must participate in a short interview process, tentatively set for between 3:30 and 5:30 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

DEADLINE

• Applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024. Late or incomplete applications and/or reference letters will not be accepted.
