Ken and Rosie Jarvis Scholarship

The Johnston Community School Foundation is proud to offer the Ken and Rosie Jarvis Scholarship. Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to Johnston High School (JHS) graduating seniors who will further their education at a two-year community college, a professional academy, or a vocational, technical, apprenticeship, or certification program.

CRITERIA

The student must graduate from JHS.

The student must enroll in a community college or other professional or technical program following graduation from JHS, with the start of enrollment no later than January 2025 to qualify for the scholarship.

The student must complete an application form and follow the submission guidelines.

The student must submit a letter of recommendation from a staff member at the Johnston Community School District or from a member of the Johnston area community. The letter should highlight the student's character. The recommendation letter should NOT be from a relative or family member.

JHS staff will be asked to complete a short character evaluation of scholarship applicants. (No action required from scholarship applicants.)

Finalists must participate in a short interview process, tentatively set for between 3:30 and 5:30 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024. Late or incomplete applications and/or reference letters will not be accepted.
